"fear that is met, is conquered, fear that is not, is defeat."
A quick post, as I am still recovering from the recent bout of illness. It is gettting old. I am getting better, but I have no stamina, and I get run down so easy. What I used to just work and power thru, now drops me like a round house from Mike Tyson.
I slept like 18 hours straight.
And for those that are keeping score at home, I am still smoke free! (almost 2 months)
I am not affraid of many things. That is not meant to make me sound all fucking macho and all that, but so many things are out of my control, so fear and trepidation will paralyze me.
And I have no time for paralyzation.
I used to suffer from Anxiety Attacks and Panic Attacks. They were born of fear and uncertainty. One day I woke up and said to myself.
It is time to live.
Everyday. I am alive.
I do not want to reach the end of the road and see that I never left the sidewalk!
I am not afraid, to die...I am afraid I did not live.
Just Another Day In Pardise!
I hope you get to feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry Bruce that you are being knocked by that. I understand. I do.
ReplyDeleteI am afraid to die because I don't want to leave the kids and Pooldad here, but at least there was love to fill the life I did live b/c of them [which is probably why I am afraid.]
Dude - get your a** on the boat, with the tequila and the guac - and let's motor. I'll kidnap Barb while in MB, SC this week.
Hey Bruce, I’m sorry to read that you aren’t feeling well.
ReplyDeleteI’m sending you some wickedly awesome and very powerful “get better” hugs. CP says they work – you’ll have to trust her on this. So anytime soon you’ll be up and about.
I really like your quote on “fear…” I may have to borrow it if you don’t mind.
Here are two that keep me on track – “most of the things we worry about never happen” and “one does not arrive at happiness, one travels its path”.
I think it’s impressive when a person stops and takes stock of what this so called journey is really all about. Each of us has our own reasons for seeking the directions we go in and at the end we alone must decide which path to follow.
Life is a process, a journey, and an adventure meant to be lived as fully as possible. I’ve always said to Miss CP, there’s no dress rehearsal so get out there and shine.
Recently, for my birthday she gave me three beautiful glass stones each engraved with a word – Imagine, Dream, Shine - that about sums it up.
Finally…serious high fives and Lucy with fur face licks for rounding the two month mark of not smoking!
Cheers, Jenny
Yay I am so please you are still smoke free gorgeous man. I feel like I have gone a few rounds myself this week and I dont even have flu to blame.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you
glad you are feeling better and i love what you said at the end about not being afraid to die but afraid you did not live i totally get that well said
ReplyDeleteNice! I feel the same in regards to the desire to live fully in the time I'm given here. I do fear death, though. Probably for the same reasons Skippy mentioned. Mostly, I don't feel like I've done enough yet. There has to be more to this story.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to find a blogger from back home!
GO Tigers and GO Red Wings!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tucker is a cutie :)
Good on ya for two months smoke-free, sugarpie! I'm sorry to hear that you've been hit my the illness bug though.
ReplyDeleteYou are so correct about fear, too. This is why I usually fly by the seat of my pants-less time to think about what to be afraid of.
Hope you are fully recovered soon, boss.
Congrats on remaining smoke free! Glad you are starting to feel a wee bit better and love your attitude on living life fully. It is a good reminder about forging a path rather than staying on the sidewalk. You are a very wise man my friend.
ReplyDeleteQuiting isn't easy but I'm proud of you for sticking with it! Congratulations! I am so sorry that you aren't feeling well and wish there was something I could do to help. :(
ReplyDeleteI think most people have that same fear when faced with mortality (theirs or loved ones)-the fear that you won't leave a mark or that you didn't live your life fully. Having that reminder is a great motivator to say what needs to be said and do what needs to be done-it could be a good thing. Just another view. HUGS!
Hey little Brother!! I'm sorry you are still not up to par but that's just the body talking (yelling) that you need to give it a rest. The mind doesn't always agree though does it? I hope you're back up and 100% really soon. I'm still recovering from the trip we made. It's unreal. Love you brother. Sis
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll have a burst of good days soon especially with the weather getting nicer and that you can accomplish some more of the things you'd really like to.
ReplyDeleteI think the 18 hours of sleep is just making up for the time you didn't sleep in your youth.
Hope you get to feeling better very soon, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI know how draining illness is. It sucks.
Congrats on continuing to be smoke-free! I am sure it hasn't been easy! Keep it up!! :-)
Seriously?... Reeeally??... Seriously?

Glad you're feeling better!!
ReplyDeleteJust remember that just taking the time to jump in the puddles makes life on the sidewalk ok :o)
Congrats on the 2 months...(You can dooooooooo it!)(said in my best Rob Schneider voice just for you)
